Carpentry & furniture assembly on Brikoula: from flat-pack to custom-made

Carpentry requests come in three sizes: assemble what I bought, repair what I have, build what does not exist yet. Each needs a different post โ€” and the third one lives or dies on measurements.

Flat-pack assembly

Say what the item is, the brand if you know it, and how many packages arrived. A photo of the boxes is enough for a carpenter to estimate hours. Mention whether the item must be fixed to the wall โ€” tall wardrobes and bookshelves should be, especially with children at home โ€” and what the wall is made of.

Repairs

Photograph the break, not just the furniture. A cracked chair leg, a drawer that jumped its rails, a door hanging off one hinge: each photo tells the carpenter what tools and parts to bring. Old or sentimental pieces deserve a line of context โ€” repairs on solid wood are done differently than on veneered board.

Custom work: measure twice, write once

For a custom bookshelf, wardrobe or kitchen element, the post should carry width, height and depth of the space, with a photo of the wall it will stand against. Note the obstacles: a socket to keep accessible, a skirting board, a window that opens inward. Say what material finish you want โ€” lacquered, wood veneer, melamine โ€” or ask for options in the offers. The carpenter will re-measure before cutting; your numbers are for honest quoting, not for the saw.

Comparing offers

Ask what is included: materials, hardware such as hinges and rails, delivery, installation. For custom work, ask to see photos of previous builds โ€” every carpenter proud of their work has them ready.

Where Brikoula fits

Post once with photos and measurements, and carpenters nearby answer with offers and their review history. The carpenter spends coins to unlock your contact details; posting costs nothing. Clear measurements turn "come and see first" into a real price on day one.
